4th Pyramid ..

interviewed by bfresh Sep 2006

First of all, when is 'Twice as Strong' dropping and what can we expect to hear on the album?

Peace. I'm striving to get the new album out by the first half of '07. You can expect to hear a complete amalgamation of swagger, rhythm, intelligent lyrics and high energy production. I'm into high energy right now, explosive, emotion evoking music that makes sense. Thumping basslines...heavy bass and loud drums.

Your sound is definitely distinguishable.. I mean within a second or two you know the track your hearing is a 4th P track, how did your style come about, what or who are your influences?

I been an outsider my whole life so that reflects musically and makes me stand out. I've always been stuck in my ways and have an eccentric and different approach of doing shit. But at the end of day I was mainly influenced by early 90's east coast hip hop. But I love all this music shit man. I'm a sponge for this shit man that's how I get inspired. total immersion u know what I'm sayin....

Think we'll ever catch you on BET?

Yea you will.
I already crept up on there quietly. If you check C-Rayz Walz's video for "Buck 80". BET ran that shit and showed love. Check me out in the back with the afro OUT. They would have ran this other crazy video we shot called "Blackout" (www.myspace.com/4thPyramid to check it out). but Viacom banned that video from all their stations cause of how controversial we came with it. Check out "Blackout".. wrote that shit before Ice Cube's show came out and all of that shit man. That's why fuck all of that man it's about mass exposure cause if you don't bring it to light someone else will and will reap the benefits of ideas u might have come up with first. Starvation don't make nobody a martyr.

You've established a tight relationship with the Def Jux fam, how did that whole thing come about?

I was runnin around the NYC scene heavy, then connected with C-Rayz early in my career. Starting out pumping out singles putting shit out, recording. El-P signs C-Rayz hears some of my shit via him. I goto Def Jux studio one day to lay down some production for the C-Rayz album. El steps to me telling me he feeling my shit. We work out a single deal for a couple of songs sign some papers and pop it off. Boom..

Do you feel better received down south than up here in Canada?

Hell the fuck yea. I've toured America like 4 times now. the whole shit. I ain't done Canada once dude. It's ALL GOOD though. But I feel Canada should know that I exist and see the level that I am repping Canada on.

No disrespect to anybdoy out here, but in what I do and my travels I barely see anybody that's popping off from up here. And if they are from Canada they've got that major label push. That's my experience, in hip-hop at least.

Which tracks of yours did you produce yourself?

A lot man. umm "Fantazmic", "War With Orcs", "Reverse Mirrors". I produced at least half of all the releases I'm on.

Have you been producing as long as rapping?

I actually started rapping before beats. But then I took time away from rap to learn and master beats and then went back and brought the rapping back into the fold.

In the next 10 years you think there's going to be more original cats like yourself in hip-hop?

I hope. Shit. Definitely.

What can we expect from you in the next 10 years?

Health, prosperity, creation and a bigger movement. In 10 years time, I want my cult man. I want that 4th Pyramid cult. Come and cut your throat off on command and all of that!!!!!
